As some of you know I love white vases. Not so much milk glass, and defiantly not the "fru fru" type.... just simple, modern vases. I've started a little collection (read more about that here) and love finding new pieces to add to it. (I just hit the jackpot this Christmas... My mom added 4 to my stash!) Well don't get me wrong because Im definitely not moving on from my vase addiction but I have found another obsession that Im happy to add to my list. I love owls + I love white ceramic...so it makes perfect since why I would want to own every last one of these :) Just Kidding Matt! No Im not a hoarder, but I just love each one of these adorable little "chotchkies" and don't see how Ill ever narrow down the selections. I guess thats where the thrill of the hunt comes in!

Credenza Perfection
I am falling in love with credenzas, more and more everyday. My MCM addiction led me to them and now I can not stop pursuing them. I actually just purchased my very own and have it resting under our huge tv in the living room. (This has helped with the problem with the gigantic tv as the old stand was metal and glass which was too cold and lifeless, especialy paired with that tv. The warmth and character of the vintage wooden credenza has lended major improvements to the space.)
I love them natural, painted, or laquered. Preferably vintage, but some of the newer ones Ive spotted at "the 'Land" are pretty sweet too. I think they work well in various spaces. They add weight and substance to interiors while providing storage and anchoring wall art, mirrors, and accessories.
Here are some of my faves Ive been spying...sources to come!

Dying for Dark Walls:
Maybe it was the years of living in white walled apartments during my college years, but now that I have my own house... all I want to do is PAINT! I love dynamic spaces and I feel that, as scary as it can be, dark walls can add so much intrigue with the contrast and depth it provides. It is a heavier look but it is also a cozier look.
While white can add contrast too, I feel that there is something about dark walls that brings a sense of wonder and an unexpected dramatic flair.
I have a few rooms dolled up in a warm dark gray already {which I LOVE}. My husband was hesitant at first, but after he saw the finished product... he couldn't stop complimenting the look. {He has now learned not to question my design ideas ;) }
I mean come on, how fabulous are these spaces?!
I really want to go deep blue or navy in my living room.
Color completes a space in my book.

Allow me to introduce myself
My name is Emily Davis Wilson. Im a designer {Interiors + Graphics}. I LOVE all things mid century modern. Vintage Furniture is quickly becoming my obsession. I love creating things { from announcements to spaces to desserts}. I love to get lost in blogs and be surrounded by creativity.
My happiness.
I married Matt in August 2010. Love him!
Here's Karmyn...She is 8 now!
And Mr.Levi is 7 months!!
Nora is my constant source of laughter.
And there's this guy...Lincoln. He's a big slobbery goof ball.
We just moved back (back for me, new for Matt) to TN in April 2013 and scored this amazing home. Follow along to see all my design dreams come to life in my blog posts here!
This "company" is not much of anything right now. Just a place to store my work of the past. But I hope one day it will be a thriving center for my creative endeavors!

Retreat: My Creative Release
What comes to mind when you think of “relaxation?” I’m sure most people would respond to this question by answering resting, meditation, or even a nap. Unfortunately, I just don’t relax like most! For me, relaxing after a long day of design work is, well … doing more design work! But you know what? That’s ok! I am doing what I love and nothing makes me happier {except of course, my family, so if I can have them by my side … even better}! On most nights you can find me on the sofa watching Netflix, with a laptop, design magazines, sketch pad, craft supplies, and a Boston terrier all in my lap … ok maybe not all at once, but if I could I would!
For me, a true escape in the form of an interior space in my home would be a comfy, cozy studio space with all the function dually provided.
This space need not be an “office type” environment. Forget the typical executive chairs and expected L-shaped desk. I need a space where my creativity can flow. And it needs to be filled with beautiful, inspiring furniture. For a chair, I’m thinking a large, upholstered wingback chair in a fun fabric. I need to be able to sit back and relax at times and this chair will be perfect for my “not so typical studio space.” For my work space, I’m going to need to completely by-pass a desk. I have too many mediums going on and I need some space! I think the Sumner Table From Hooker Furniture’s Melange Collection will work perfectly. I’ll also need great lighting, accessories, and storage … and a great view is a must!

Since I’m so use to working via the living room sofa, I feel I should introduce a break out area in my dream studio space. This way I can work and “relax” with my legs up and my pup by my side on this gorgeous, modern Hooker Sofa, while catching some of my shows on the wall-mounted flat screen.

Yes, I think this will work. Just the right amount of space, perfect little areas for different types of projects and crafts, and even enough space to have friends over for collaboration and coffee.
Here are all the special pieces I used in my getaway space …
I know this place might not sound like your dream escape, but it sure is mine! In my opinion, one of the keys to being happy in life is to find what inspires and excites you, and incorporate that activity or ritual into your daily routine. You might not get to do that “thing” as your 9-5 on an everyday basis, or maybe you’re like me and just can’t get enough.
What’s your dream “escape” space {or maybe it’s more like your inspiration space}? A spa-inspired bathroom, a library, a workout area, a luxurious hotel-like bedroom, or maybe just a quiet nook? Treat yourself … you deserve it!
Karmyn's Turning 6
I can't believe a year has gone by! Karmyn is turning 6 already and its time for another Wilson Party! The theme: Hello Kitty of course! Pictures to come!
