Dying for Dark Walls:

Maybe it was the years of living in white walled apartments during my college years, but now that I have my own house... all I want to do is PAINT! I love dynamic spaces and I feel that, as scary as it can be, dark walls can add so much intrigue with the contrast and depth it provides. It is a heavier look but it is also a cozier look.

While white can add contrast too, I feel that there is something about dark walls that brings a sense of wonder and an unexpected dramatic flair.

And adding a geometric print with satin on flat? OMG! Im drooling.

I have a few rooms dolled up in a warm dark gray already {which I LOVE}. My husband was hesitant at first, but after he saw the finished product... he couldn't stop complimenting the look. {He has now learned not to question my design ideas ;) }

I mean come on, how fabulous are these spaces?!

I really want to go deep blue or navy in my living room.

Color completes a space in my book.

  1. It's good to know that I'm not the only one with an obsession with dark walls. You have great example photos, Emily. They all have one thing in common...great lighting to avoid the space turning into a dark hole. Thanks for posting:oP

  2. Great point Kuniko. Thats very true. Maybe my love for dark walls stem from my love of great lighting!
